Vulcan Venture is a horizontally scrolling shooter arcade game released by Konami in 1988. It is the North American arcade title for Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou, the sequel to the highly acclaimed Gradius. 

Gameplay & Features

You control the “Vic Viper” spacecraft to protect planet Gradius from the Gofer special forces. 

Power-up System: Collect capsules from destroyed enemies to advance a selection bar at the bottom of the screen. You can choose from multiple weapon configurations, including options like Spread, Bomb, Laser, and Photon Torpedo.

Boss Rush: It was one of the first games in the series to include a dedicated “boss rush” level, where players face a continuous gauntlet of previous bosses.

Difficulty: The game is noted for its high difficulty, particularly the “Gradius recovery” problem where losing all power-ups after a death makes subsequent progress extremely challenging.
