Sengoku 2

Sengoku 2 is a classic side-scrolling beat ’em up game released by SNK in 1993 for the Neo Geo system. It is known for its improved graphics, varied time-traveling stages, and enhanced gameplay mechanics over its predecessor. 

Gameplay and Features

  • Genre: A side-scrolling beat ’em up (action game) where players fight through various enemies and bosses.
  • Plot: Players take on the role of a warrior, summoned by a shrine princess, who travels through different historical periods to defeat a dark monarch.
  • Combat Mechanics: The game introduced new tactical features not present in the original, such as charge attacks and defensive abilities. Players start with a sword and can acquire orbs to upgrade it.
  • Transformation Abilities: Players can transform into three different characters: a Tengu (fights with a rod and has great reach), a ninja (throws projectiles), and a wolf-like creature.
  • Visuals and Sound: The game features significant graphical improvements over the first Sengoku, with excellent animation and diverse backgrounds. The soundtrack blends traditional Japanese styles with rock and orchestral influences.
  • Multiplayer: The game is particularly enjoyed in two-player co-op sessions.
