Sengoku

Sengoku is a series of side-scrolling beat-’em-up games developed and published by SNK for the Neo Geo arcade (MVS) and home (AES) systems, as well as other platforms. The games typically involve players fighting against undead forces and feudal Japanese warriors that have been revived in the present day.

Gameplay Mechanics

The core gameplay of the Sengoku series is that of a classic 2D beat-’em-up with some unique twists.

Multiplayer: The games support two-player cooperative play, allowing friends to team up and take on the spectral enemies.

Character Transformations: A primary feature is the ability to transform into different special characters, such as an armour-clad wolf, a samurai, or a ninja, each with their own unique powers and attack styles. This transformation is time-limited but crucial for navigating different combat situations.

Weapons and Power-ups: Players can collect various orbs that grant temporary weapons, such as a single sword, double swords, or a large two-handed weapon, and sometimes projectiles.
