Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (1998) is the third installment in Capcom’s crossover series and the final entry developed for the CP System II (CPS2) arcade hardware.

Gameplay Mechanics
- 2-on-2 Tag Team: Players select two main fighters and can swap between them at any time. Inactive characters slowly recover a portion of their “red” health while off-screen.
- Special Partner (Assist) System: Unlike previous games that used the secondary teammate for assists, this title introduced a pool of 22 randomly assigned guest characters (e.g., Arthur, Cyclops, Lou) that can be summoned a limited number of times per match.
- Duo Team Attack (Variable Cross): A new mechanic where both characters on a team appear on-screen simultaneously for a brief period, allowing for uncontrollable chaos and unlimited use of Hyper Combos during the duration.

Roster and Characters
- Base Roster: Features 15 playable fighters, expanding beyond Street Fighter to include various Capcom properties like Mega Man, Strider, and Darkstalkers.
- Secret Characters: Includes 6 hidden “palette swap” fighters with unique properties, such as Shadow Lady (Chun-Li variant) and Roll (Mega Man variant).
- Final Boss: Onslaught, a massive two-form boss from the Marvel “Onslaught” comic arc.
