Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition is the sixth and final arcade iteration of the Street Fighter II series, originally released in late 2003 to commemorate the franchise’s 15th anniversary. It is notable as the final game ever released for Capcom’s CP System II (CPS2) arcade hardware.

Gameplay Summary
The game functions as a “greatest hits” compilation within a single engine, primarily based on Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
- Version Selection: After selecting a character, players choose from one of five different iterations of that character based on previous arcade releases:
- Normal: The World Warrior (1991)
- Champ / Dash: Champion Edition (1992)
- Hyper / Turbo: Hyper Fighting (1992)
- Super: The New Challengers (1993)
- Super T / Super X: Super Turbo (1994)
- Engine & Balance: Each version retains its original frame data, move properties, and damage values. For instance, a “Normal” Ryu cannot perform a hurricane kick knockdown, while a “Super T” Akuma remains accessible as a hidden character.
- Audio Options: The game allows players to switch between different soundtrack styles, including CPS1 (original 8-bit style), CPS2 (16-bit arcade style), and Arranged (from 3DO and FM-Towns ports).
