Ghouls ‘n Ghosts (1988) is a Capcom side-scrolling action game and the sequel to Ghosts ‘n Goblins. You control knight Arthur, who must fight the undead hordes and demonic bosses to save Princess Prin-Prin and restore souls taken by the demon king Lucifer.

Gameplay Mechanics
- The “Two-Hit” Rule: Players control Sir Arthur, who begins each life in a suit of armor. A single hit strips him down to his iconic boxer shorts, and a second hit results in death.
- Enhanced Combat: Unlike the first game, Arthur can now fire his weapons vertically (upward) and even downward while jumping, making it easier to handle airborne or ground-based threats.
- Golden Armor & Magic: A new “Gold Armor” can be found in treasure chests. When equipped, Arthur can charge his weapon to unleash powerful magic spells, such as lightning or fireballs, unique to each weapon type.
- Rigid Jumping: The series is famous for its non-committal jumping; once Arthur leaps, his trajectory cannot be changed in mid-air, requiring precise timing and foresight.
