DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou or DoDonPachi 3 or Blissful Death is a 2002 vertical-scrolling bullet hell arcade shooter developed by Cave. Is widely regarded as a masterpiece of the genre, known for its intense difficulty, “hyper” system.

Gameplay Mechanics
- Weapon System: The game features a classic shot-laser system. Players can use a rapid-fire spread shot for general enemies or a focused laser for heavy damage and piercing capabilities.
- The Hyper System: This is the core innovation of Dai-Ou-Jou. Destroying enemies drops “Hyper” items. Collecting them fills a gauge that allows the player to activate a Hyper mode, dramatically increasing firepower, canceling enemy bullets, and boosting scores. Using this increases enemy aggression, making it a high-risk, high-reward mechanic.
- Chaining: The game heavily rewards keeping a continuous “chain” of kills, which requires constant action and strategic, fast-paced shooting.
- Ship Selection: Players choose between two ships, each with three Element Doll configurations that determine weapon type and bomb capacity.
- Difficulty & Looping: The game is notoriously difficult. A second loop exists, accessible only by near-perfect play (few deaths, high scores, or finding hidden bees), culminating in the infamous final boss, Hibachi.
