Batsugun

Released in 1993, Batsugun is a vertically scrolling shooter developed by Toaplan that is widely recognized as the pioneer of the “bullet hell”. It served as the company’s final shoot-’em-up before they disbanded, with many of its developers later forming the legendary studio Cave. 

Akai Katana

Battle Garegga

Battle Garegga is a landmark vertically scrolling shooter released by Raizing in 1996. It is renowned for its gritty industrial aesthetic, a legendary Detroit techno-inspired soundtrack by Manabu Namiki, and an incredibly complex dynamic difficulty system. 

Armed Police Batrider

Armed Police Batrider is a vertically scrolling shooter developed by Raizing and published by Eighting in 1998. Set in a dystopian future Manhattan in 2019, players control “Batriders”—high-speed airbikes—to stop the GiganTech Corporation and its mechanical army.

Alligator Hunt

Released in 1994 by the Spanish studio Gaelco, Alligator Hunt is a fast-paced, gallery shooter that blends ’90s skate culture with an alien invasion.
