Released in 1994 by the Spanish studio Gaelco, Alligator Hunt is a fast-paced, gallery shooter that blends ’90s skate culture with an alien invasion.
Plot & Premise
- The Threat: Reptilian-looking aliens from outer space have launched an invasion of Earth.
- The Heroes: Humanity’s only hope lies with two skateboarding kids equipped with laser guns and a “gnarly” attitude.
- The Mission: The game begins with the duo fighting through ruined city streets on Earth before launching into space in starfighters to destroy the enemy’s home base.

Gameplay Mechanics
- Gallery Shooter Style: Similar to classics like Cabal or Blood Bros., you slide your character left and right while controlling a separate crosshair to blast enemies.
- Dual Combat Modes:
- On-Foot: Combat while maneuvering on skateboards.
- In-Flight: Shooting sequences while piloting spacecraft, which retain the same dodge-and-aim mechanics.
- Weaponry: Players have unlimited basic laser fire but must strategically use a limited supply of missiles and super missiles collected from fallen enemies.
- Performance Tracking: Each stage concludes with a “Brutality and Efficacy” meter that scores your aggression and accuracy.
