Released in 1997, Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix (known as Pocket Fighter in Japan) is a crossover fighting game built on Capcom’s CP System II (CPS2) arcade hardware.

Core Gameplay Mechanics
The game features “super deformed” (chibi) characters and a simplified but deep combat system.
- Gem System: Attacks cause opponents to drop colored gems (Red, Blue, Yellow) that, when collected, level up specific special moves across three sub-bars.
- Flash Combos: Also called “Costume Combos,” these allow players to execute four-hit sequences where characters transform into various costumes mid-attack.
- Mighty Combos: A super meter that can be filled up to 9 stocks to perform powerful signature moves.
- Control Layout: A 4-button system (Punch, Kick, Special, and Taunt). The Special button performs unblockable moves that force an opponent to drop gems.

Roster & Cameos
The roster pulls from multiple Capcom franchises, featuring characters from Street Fighter Alpha, Darkstalkers, and Red Earth.
Cameos: The backgrounds are filled with dozens of non-playable Capcom characters, including M. Bison, Cammy, and various Mega Man cast members.
Playable Characters: Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief, Sakura, Ibuki, Dan, Akuma, Morrigan, Felicia, Hsien-Ko, and Tessa.
